A Brief Introduction of Shanghai Jianqiao College
Shanghai Jianqiao College (hereinafter
referred to as SJC) is a full time private institution of
higher learning approved by Shanghai Municipal Government
and Ministry of Education. The College was founded in April
2000 and began to enroll students in the fall of 2000. The
College is authorized to offer 4-year undergraduate programs
and to award both Bachelor and Associate Bachelor degrees
as well as college diplomas. The SJC has also been authorized
to accept overseas students to take advanced studies on Jianqiao
campus
The College was invested in by Mr.Zhou
Xingzeng and other entrepreneurs from Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province
with a total investment of 600 million RMB. The present campus
covers an area of 33.33 hectares and a floor space of 260000
square meters for schoolhouse, with 60 million RMB worth equipment
and apparatuses and a collection of more than 800,000 volumes
of books.
SJC now consists of 9 departments, namely,
Department of Information Technology, Department of Electronic
Engineering, Department of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering,
Department of Automobile Engineering, Department of Business
& Trade, Department of Culture & Communications, Department
of Foreign Languages, Department of Management and Department
of Art Design, with 35 disciplines, including 25 undergraduate
majors. The enrollment of SJC has now reached 9,700 full-time
students and over 600 part-time students at attached evening
school.
SJC has got an excellent faculty composed
of 370 full-time teachers and 400 part time ones. Over 40%
of the teachers hold senior professional titles. The heads
of the departments are all distinguished famous professors
or experts. The young and middle-aged scholars were recruited
from home or abroad.
Over the past 10 years, more than 15,000
qualified students graduated from the College. And they are
highly spoken by the employees for their good comprehensive
quality and solid command of fundamental knowledge as well
as practical skills. The employment rate of the College graduates
is among the best of the same kind of institutions, reaching
98% each year in the past seven years.
SJC has set up a flexible and efficient

China and one of the best two private colleges out of over
20 ones in Shanghai. The SJC has been cited three times successively
by Shanghai Municipal Government a Model Unit with civic virtues
and prevailing custom.
